Thanks! I always try to aim for the least number of layers I can get away with, haha. For me, I find that using less layers results in more natural-looking paintings. I like when my initial sketch lines, characters, and backgrounds kinda blend and smudge into each other here and there. ^^

The raccoon definitely knew... The fox..? Maybe not so much. I'm guessing the former is who paid for the shots, haha! (Blue Label whiskey is very pricey.)

On the Southern Hemisphere, seasons are opposite, which is indeed pretty neat!
Spring: September, October, November
Summer: December, January, February
Fall: March, April, May
Winter: June, July, August
It's all good; my 'tism makes it harder for me to get jokes. Thanks for humoring me! 😅

Also, you can go camping and find snow like this any time of the year so long as you can get to a high enough elevation. Very cold and nippy up there! That's why mountain tops are snowy.
Sorry for the tangent; kinda just thinking out loud here.
tldr; this piece is just cold, not holiday-themed.

I tried something different for this piece and painted the character's flat colors directly on top of the sketch, blending and smoothing them together. I then rendered on a separate layer. I thought this method may speed up the process, but it ended up taking longer. 😂 Oh well, it was still fun!

This was a commission from earlier this year. Also, the seasons are reversed on the opposite side of the planet. When Americans are celebrating Christmas, temperatures average 77-95F down under in Australia. Lastly, I think artists should be free to paint and post whatever environments they like.

Thank you! I really enjoy painting relaxing backgrounds like these. Simple, but effective!
