Odd that this article includes this paragraph, given that the trans-focused section of the guidelines was already removed months ago and can now only be accessed through the Internet Archive and other backup locations

Love this tiny moment in @treatmentactiongroup.org's latest newsletter - made me laugh out loud! Thanks, @markhar77.bsky.social, for preserving your humanity amidst the madness.

#TransDayofVisibility feels like a good moment to re-up @jncherabiemd.bsky.social's tremendous, invaluable quick video guide for clinicians on how to make sense of gender-affirming care and begin to employ it in their work, both for HIV prevention and beyond. www.thebodypro.com/video/trans-...

I love this article @timmurphynycwriter.bsky.social wrote for TheBody featuring three powerful trans HIV advocates standing tall amidst today's political storms: Tori Cooper of @hrc.org, Arianna Lint, and Shekinah Rose. It's the dose of strength we all need right now www.thebody.com/news/hiv/tra...

There's nothing in this specific release about last week's rumored shuttering of the CDC's HIV prevention efforts... but we'll see. The release does note that the new "Administration for a Healthy America" will include HIV as a focus, so it's still possible the CDC infrastructure gets shifted over.

Has anyone done this one yet

For example: When a new remission case was presented at CROI three years ago, some experts estimated that we could begin seeing as many as a few dozen similar cases each year. www.thebodypro.com/article/croi...

On TheBodyPro: A roundup of notable, clinically relevant research published in Jan/Feb on ART, comorbidities, and continuum of care for people with HIV. The amount of new science on HIV always kind of amazes me; I hope we're not about to lose that momentum.

If you're a part of the HIV community, you're living through a hard time right now, and it's easy to feel overwhelmed, exhausted, inadequate, you name it. Even community leaders agree: We've all got to find ways to take time for ourselves. Read: www.thebody.com/news/hiv/hiv...

A note on the PEPFAR Impact Tracker (pepfar.impactcounter.com) - one that they're completely above-board about, but that is important as we quibble over quantifying HIV-related deaths amidst the ongoing USAID/PEPFAR awfulness: their numbers are projected estimates, not literal. (1/2, probably)

As we mark another HIV Is Not a Crime Day - and we do so on the last day of Black History Month - it feels like an especially timely moment to feature the words of Robert Suttle, a Black gay man living with HIV who's done so much to overcome criminalization. Watch: www.thebody.com/collection/r...

From the brilliant @drlaurajwaters.bsky.social on our latest pod episode, discussing the long-term impact of U.S. HIV funding evisceration: even if service is restored, the harm done to trust is long-lasting. Read/listen: www.thebodypro.com/hiv/future-h...

Oof. Yeah, this is concerning -- here's their Services navigation on 1/23 (on the left) vs. now (on the right). They've removed two menu items: Gender-Affirming Care and Support Services. (In case you're wondering, yes, the Support Services page used terms like "LGBTQ+")

New on TheBodyPro: Recent research explored how well some of the most widely used AI chatbots tackle HIV prevention and testing info. Results were... eh. Overall, not too bad, but they kinda blew it on inclusivity - and that was before our current political moment. www.thebodypro.com/hiv/ai-hiv-p...

New on TheBodyPro: A study on coronary atherosclerosis in people with HIV (mostly white men) over age 40 provides a possible explanation for elevated MI risk in folks with well-treated HIV - and a reminder of statins' potential value in CVD prevention.

75 years ago, a person named Janet Mitchell was born. She grew up, got an MD (and an MPH!), and became a true pioneer in HIV care and patient advocacy for women of color during the height of the U.S. HIV/AIDS epidemic. Oh, and she was under 5ft tall. And Black. www.thebody.com/hiv/janet-mi...

Congratulations! Really nice to have you (and coverable baseball stuff) back -- it's fun to spot the stuff that makes you stand out as a writer

That said, the restoration of this page may be unrelated to the court order; it could be that whatever editorial team is working within the CDC simply finished its anti-diversity/anti-trans review of the page and republished it. The old and new pages are nearly identical; I only spotted two tweaks.

Apropos of nothing (and everything), buying the @effinbirds.com daily calendar was basically the best decision I could’ve made this year for my family’s mental health

We've put together an initial report, on TheBodyPro, of federal HIV resources that have been removed and where alternative sources can be located. It's just a start, so tips and notes are welcome. Cheers to @larrybuhl.bsky.social for his initial reporting here!
