Can you spot all 3 salamanders in my 2nd pic?

Just went to grab something from my car in the rain/dark and there were 4 wee salamanders hanging out on the front stoop!!!!! 🥹🥰 Maybe they live underneath the boards with the chipmunks ??

I had to spend most of my time indoors but I did find a few old friends in the woods

Chalciporus piperatus, a smallish bolete found under hardwoods that has bright yellow basal mycelium

Pachyella clypeata (Copper Penny, a good common name!)

Now that I have the knowledge squirrels will chew through the entire outer layer of the Forbidden Nut* only to be disappointed by the equally terrible interior, I will never know peace 😭 😭 😭

My only comment on fixating on this tree in particular is that there are beautiful trees all over the place, it just takes someone (You!) to appreciate them.

I've met so many beautiful old trees in my wandering, it's always a pleasure 🥰🥰

🍄📸 So many boletes!! And fungal diversity 😍
A wonky Bolete is falling over on the colourful forest floor. It has black scabers on the stalk, and small creamy coloured pores that stain a reddish brown A weird little fat fungal creature sits on the forest floor. Likely an Amanita "egg", it sorta looks like a yellowy beige sphere on a platform. Top down view of a stump with a series of cracks in it stained a deep blue-green colour, likely indicative of the presence of Chlorociboria Three spindly black fungal appendages (Geoglossum I believe) emerge from the lush green moss

Anyways uh, the old round house was extremely cool and I really wish I could have stayed longer to photograph the lichens and mosses but, I don't like being stalked....
A long concrete wall snakes through the overgrown forest, archways 2 storeys high allowing sun to pass through the structure. Some colourful graffiti is present on the wall, but the moss and other greenery are working much harder An old structure full of birch and poplar trees with massive old window arches

For once I got a shipping error in my favour and got sent 2 brand new double burner camp stoves instead of the 1 that I purchased

I guess I will return the 2nd one for a refund and enjoy my free stove?

Just had an excellent 26km morning bike ride down the rail trail that follows Lake Simcoe between Orillia and Barrie 🥰 took my time riding back to stop and look at wildflowers and birds because who am I trying to impress lol

On the topic of weird guys.... I found some Geoglossum (aka Earth Tongue) as well as Geoglossum infected with a Hypomyces! 🍄📸

Sent off for DNA sequencing as part of the BioBlitz :)
