i get something out of your message in that i really hate the authoritative side to psychoanalysis though, where someone claims to be knowledgable on the patterns of the mind in an abstract universally applicable way and presumes what traumas your thoughts must represent.

and if there’s such a thing as the subconscious or unconscious then i assume those must be known too

also, i wonder what “complete understanding” means. what does it mean to understand? there’s a lot of random connections between concepts in the brain; do we have the capacity to abstract them into something else we can fit into the brain?

i think i need a mix of thinking for myself and then talking to other people and hearing their responses and responding, ad infinitum. it brings in things that i would never have thought of. and looking for approval / problems with my understanding seems like the point of talking
