Congrats to PhD #12 from our lab! With his work on elaborate, mechanically interlocked C60/[10]CPP constructs, Fabian Steudel has earned the nickname "Mr. milligram" in our lab. Now, "Dr. milligram" will continue postdoctoral studies with Akimitsu Narita in Japan.

Congratulations to Andreas Englert, PhD #11 from our lab! Andreas relentlessly pushed organophosphates out of equilibrium for 3 years and landed a job at BioNTech. 👏🍾

Was travelling to some spectacular places this past month (Tenerife, Strasbourg, Oxford). One DPhil and one HDR awarded in the process, plus one new collaboration initiated. Fantastic first work by former group member Youzhi Xu at Henan U!👇 It is hard enough to make a hetero[3]catenane. They did it in 35% yield via "ring-in-ring synthesis" from two commercial macrocycles😮!!! We were very happy to help with MS-MS studies. #chemsky

Just out in ACIE: in elaborate [2]rotaxanes, we found that nanohoops suppress through-space charge transfer😮, which would explain some mysterious OPV results. A tour de force study by Fabian Schwer and Simon Zank (with Guldi, Drewello, Barran labs). #chemsky

Confinement in a nanohoop 💍 organocatalyst enables outstanding enantioselectivity: 95% vs. 50% ee in non-cyclic reference catalysts!!! Check out our latest preprint, just out for #ISNA20, P-164 today! SC-XRD by @apoethig.bsky.social

Serendipity was kind to us in this latest work in ACIE! It turned out that disulfide macrocycle💍I3- salts 🧂 allow functionalizing SWCNTs non-covalently from outside and inside😲. With: J. Maultzsch, U. Kaiser, B. Meyer. Pioneer: E. Perez #chemsky

Out now in ChemCommun! C6H6F3(OH)3: A small tripodal molecule that looks simple, was hard to make, is extremely polar and holds much promise in SupraChem and OrgMat! 👏 PhD student Shyam standing on the shoulders of F. Glorius and D. O'Hagan.
