Here's my old school Pokemon cube, all cards from the original WotC era of Gen 1 Pokemon. The game requires a few small tweaks to make the most of the draft format but it's a lot of fun.

Really discouraging as an aspiring game designer

This will be remembered as a turning point for the game. Standard, and indeed the game as a whole, is Magic no longer. The game is not dead, but I refuse to feed the amalgamated monstrosity it is fast becoming.

I would also give a shoutout to miscalculation. Miscalc is an early and incredibly clean version of cards we've seen more and more of over the years: Good early (counter) and good late (cycling)
