I took my 1955 Hachiyō Kōgaku Kōgyō Alpenflex, bought in Tokyo a couple weeks back for ¥1000 (about $6.36) to the junkyard in Colorado and it worked very well. #filmphotography #mediumformat #alpenflex #junkyardphotography #120film #chryslernewyorker

I bought a 1955 Hakiyo Alpenflex medium-format TLR camera from a sidewalk vendor in Tokyo for ¥1000 (about $6.50). It worked very well. Here's a statue at Eigenji Temple in Shiga Prefecture. #filmphotography #mediumformat #alpenflex #hakiyocamera #japanesecamera #tlrcamera #eigenjitemple

I love this RAR 2490 Kodak scientific film! It was made for shooting oscilloscope screens and for short-wavelength visible light all the way up to gamma rays. Shot with Kodak Brownie No. 3 box camera at Speedway Auto Wrecking in Colorado. #boxcamera #filmphotography #junkyardphotography #rar2490

I used a magnet mount to attach the camera to the roof steel. 23-minute exposure.

Went to Speedway Auto Wrecking in Dacono, Colorado, yesterday. Shot some more 1971 Kodak RAR 2490 X-ray film in the 1919 Kodak No. 3 Brownie box camera with #17 portrait lens. #filmphotography #boxcamera #boxcameras #junkyardphotography #kodakbrownie #kodakrarfilm #smallblockchevy

Exactly five years ago, I photographed the early Covid-19 lockdown period in Denver with four cameras that were new during the 1918 Spanish Flu period. Pale Horse, Pale Rider and all that. #filmphotography #covid19 #boxcamera #covidlockdowns #March2020

I think the Minolta 16 shoots better photos than the Minox (which I also got for free).

Shot with a Minolta 16 spy camera I got for free. Fortunately, I already had a developing spool for 16mm film. #filmphotography #subminiaturecamera #minolta16 #junkyardphotography

This was shot with a 1910s Kodak No. 3A Folding Hawk-Eye camera at Speedway Auto Wrecking in Dacono, Colorado. I'm using 1971 Kodak RAR 2490 scientific film, but from a different roll than used with the other Speedway shots. Car is a 1940 Chevrolet. #filmphotography #largeformatfilm #foldingcamera

When you shoot a 73-year-old junkyard car with 54-year-old scientific film in a 120-year-old box camera, you never know what results you'll get. #filmphotography #vintagecamera #kodak2490 #kodakrarfilm #junkyardphotography #kodakno3brownie #kodakbrownie #boxcamera

This film has aged in an interesting way, with tree-root-like patterns in the grain. Apparently, 2490 RAR was made for shooting oscilloscope screens or as X-ray or gamma-ray film, and it's only sensitive to wavelengths of green light and shorter. I shoot it at ISO 15.

I loaded up the Conway Kewpie 3A box camera, made in Rochester MN around 1910, with 1971 Kodak 2490 RAR scientific film and took it to Speedway Auto Wrecking in Dacono, Colorado. #filmphotography #vintagecamera #conleycamera #conleykewpie #boxcamera #schoolbus #scmbus

If you're going to shoot Italian cars in the junkyard, you need an Italian camera. Fiat 124 Sport Spider shot with 1951 Bencini Comet II on hand-cut 127 film. #filmphotography #junkyardphotography #bencini #fiat124 #bencinicamera #127film #fiatspider #fiattwincam #junkyardfind

The M.I.O.M. Photax was a French Bakelite camera with a curved film plane that was very popular in Europe during the 1940s and 1950s. I bought this one at a Luxembourg City flea market, now use it to shoot American junkyards. #filmphotography #miomphotax #photax #junkyardphotography #filmcamera
