“Live action” in this context means “slightly more realistically rendered”

I wish someone had had those conversations with me as a teenager but then I think about the people in my life trying and i just laugh ruefully.
November 17, 2025 at 6:35 PM
Well and not just about the mechanics of it, but like? The emotions around it. That’s almost more important. Teenagers are probably feeling The Most feelings of their lives, but they’re left on their own for a lot of it. It’s no wonder a lot of people look at that time with nostalgia but also dread.

But honestly of everything she has, I think it’s the POTS she hates the most.
November 17, 2025 at 5:42 PM
You have to be honest and open about such things, otherwise you are doing children no favors. It’s also not great that eventually shame takes over that sense of curiosity.

Ugggh POTS is the worst. My wife has it (and ME/CFS, and endometriosis, and glaucoma, and cataracts…. Dumpster fire body)

Adults are profoundly uncomfortable with teenage sexuality in a way that is just not helpful at all. I get it, no one wants to have The Talk, but at the same time, abandoning kids to The Streets for all their insight into sex is wrong.

Well Project for a New American Century existed. It could still happen.
November 17, 2025 at 5:13 PM
No Bush v Gore, no President Bush
No 9/11 bump for Bush, does O’Connor retire?
Rehnquist dies, President Gore nominates someone who 100% is not determined to undermine the American state from within, hollowing out the law until it technically exists but constrains no rich man.

I think we will all be dealing with this form of virulent resistance to pluralism and equity for the next long while.

One can only hope that they die out before they force too many others to die out.
November 17, 2025 at 6:24 AM
lol for real well done
November 17, 2025 at 6:10 AM
Well unfortunately conservatism as a movement isn’t what we would like to be but what we are presented with.

Are there ideas a hypothetical sane conservative movement could put forth I would agree with? Absolutely!

But we don’t have one of those.

2000 I’d just graduated college, and had to skip a family vacation to the Outer Banks to find a job I’d quit two years later. I’d go on the vacation instead, even though I guarantee it would have driven me crazy.

Truth hurts.
November 17, 2025 at 1:17 AM
The central truth that I’m coming to understand in these times, is that every Democrat will be held responsible by the political press and the public at large for the sins of one, while no republican will ever take accountability for the sins of another

Being useful to rich people - for whatever reason! - is a path to many things some people would consider … unnatural.
