Susan M Collins is a US Senator from Maine and the President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston…No wonder she is always so concerned and extremely troubled about stuff, who wouldn’t be.

Or do we just have a surplus of Susan M Collinses (maybe Conllinsi)?

On the one hand Rubio has decimated the State Department and done generational damage to America’s diplomatic corps.

On the other hand, the Biden Administration changed the standard font.

Well done NYT, this is next level.

He's only gone and done it!

Bookies didn't fully rate his chances, but plucky DJT pulls-off entirely expected win.

Though usually magnanimous, Trump will savor the victory and be contemptuous of the competition.

Putin, MBS, and Ming the Merciless left to wonder where it all went wrong.

Polymarket has odds of Trump winning inaugural FIFA Peace Prize (not fake award) at only 97%, so all still to play for.

Do not know who is capturing the other 3%, but knowing FIFA its probably split between Putin and MBS.

The tension and drama are just too much...its the beautiful game.

From Abraham Lincoln’s declaration in October 1863 for a national day of Thanksgiving.

In the midst of bloody civil war he called upon the country to acknowledge its sins and be thankful for its blessings with “one heart and one voice by the whole American people”.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

Setting aside all the serious stuff and baggage accompanying next year’s World Cup for a moment, this is pretty amazing:

Congratulations Curaçao!!

Congratulations Haiti!!

Both countries have qualified for the 2026 #WorldCup

When he's done being president, looks like he might be a perfect fit for a revival of the Larry Bud Melman character.

Just needs to remember there is only one Calvert DeForest.

PS. Happy to hear the man who collapsed is Ok.

This is really happening:

Mayor of the capital and largest city in UK is British Muslim of Pakistani heritage.

Mayor of largest city in US will be an American Muslim of Indian heritage.

Expect an increase in cricket discussion and maybe some LFC vs Arsenal chat, otherwise:

Masterful performance by Yamamoto. Second straight playoff complete game win.

#Dodgers win Game2 5-1 and even the Series.
October 26, 2025 at 2:57 AM
Wow!! #BlueJays put up a 9 spot in the 6th.

Jays beating up on the Dodgers in Game 1. And, though it’s only the first game, the Jays are knocking around conventional wisdom too.

Curtailing freedom of the press: 1933 & 2025

Goebbels:
"newspapers as a factor in the public life are recognized by the State and shall be free to express objective, matter-of-fact criticism, but they must place themselves in the service of the State in full consciousness of their responsibilities"

Jesus, what are Roy and these nutters talking about?

The Chicago protest had a literal Jesus.

And this Jesus had a message for everyone, but one which Roy and his friends would be wise to re-learn.

With today's stories of Rutgers' prof fleeing the US out of fear and Administration's ongoing efforts to get Universities to bend the knee, worth recalling time when US observed in bewilderment similar efforts by authoritarian regime to control their institutions of higher learning

Kelsey is going to make sure the town pays.

Received this email from MLB and wondered if anyone has alerted the White House.

Just like in their fever dreams, antifa (or whatever) is everywhere.

And here I thought we were safe after the Reds had been knocked-out. 😂

Not the most important point about this unhinged rant, but unsurprisingly the parenthetical point is wrong.

According to Oregon Department of Public Safety, total number of police at all levels in Oregon is 6,013 (as of Nov ‘24).

According to DoJ, “FBI has approximately 10,100 Special Agents”.

Loyalty tests reported in today's paper in 1933:

"“Henceforth no one will be admitted to the civil service…who is ‘not politically reliable, not of Aryan descent or is wedded to a non-Aryan wife.”

On this day in 1933, the NY Times reports a speech by Joseph Goebbels the day before in Geneva on nature of National Socialism and principles of relatively new Nazi government.

The Nazis had "wiped out the opposition" because they stood in the way of "re-generation", of making Germany great again.

Maybe Energy Secretary should read information produced by his own Department.

Coal use has been in decline since 1950, so he should direct his ire at Truman Administration. And, it has declined because better energy technologies have developed to displace it.

From the US EIA "Energy Facts" page:

In the interest of national security, the US cannot allow a flat pack furniture capability gap to exist with our bitter rival and long standing enemy, the Swedes. 🙄

#RedSox lose 5-3 and drop series to the A's.

Sox are now 7-8 in September, with 9 left to play.

Sox fall into 3rd WC spot, only 1.5 games ahead of the Guardians.

To add to the woes, with Guardians streaking and Tigers slipping, last series of the season may soon be important to both BOS and DET.

Today is the 174th anniversary of the first issue of the @nytimes.com . First published as 'The New York Daily Times' on September 18th, 1851.

In its first issue it summarized its reason for being as follows.

Did not watch the match, because why…However, see Norway scored 12 goals against Moldova in a WC qualifier. And out of what I can only assume is a sense of compassion, Norway scored one of the goals for Moldova

Haaland scored 5, but at 9-1 why is he still on the pitch to score the 5th in 83rd min?
