I started to work on translating an old collection of short stories I wrote in french around 10 years ago.
Still debating how to share them, with all the scrapping and stealing.

Here enjoy a little snippet of the first one I translated today. It's a draft tho.
Pushed around by a hurried family and a stroller, she took a few steps away from the bus stop, grabbing a pack of cigarettes from her pocket. Stick between her lips, lighter in her hand, she hid the hideous view behind a wall of white smoke. Every day killed a little the witch she had been. Memories of woods, small stream and birds' song were harder to remember each passing hours, days, weeks. It was only in those glimpse of suspended time that she could remember her roots, who she was. She had been once. And every day, she felt like she was dying a little more, drowning in this ooze that some people called "progress". Breathing a swirl of smoke that climbed in multitude of twists and curls in the air, she stayed there, eyes fixed toward the sky, trying desperately to recognize the shade and shape of her lost hope and crushed dreams in the dark clouds.

A shiver ran up Eliot's as he remembered the terror Doppy had given him by standing in front of his window, past midnight, because they 'needed some pomegranate and knew Eliot liked those'. For Yoba' sake, who needed a pomegranate at 1am? "The bats in my cave liked them too" The noise Eliot made at Doppy's voice near his ear was definitely not his proudest moment but he was sure that not even Marlon would hold it against him.

It was not secret to his family that the forest wasn't a normal one. It was one of the Borders, a place between them and something else. This was the reason they lived close to the edge of it. As his mother once explained to it, they were here to be sure that the balance between everything didn't tip one way or the other. They were guarding it like someone would guard the door to a very special place, making that nothing would try to break it. It didn't mean much to him honestly. The woods could totally protect itself without them and none of the city people were stupid enough to go in there. "It's not stupid people that we should fear, pumpkin," his mother once said. "It's the greedy ones. Those would destroy everything to get what they want." To him, it sounded like greedy people were also really stupid. How could you get anything if you destroyed everything? Trends were something that went and pass like everything in life. At least, it has been an interesting few weeks for sure. But the new one… "Come on, Cam! You have to try it!" Well, the new one was really a pain in the ass. "No, Jay.
