Of course I love libraries - who doesn't - but I love them even more when they support our book. Thanks Port Stephens Libraries!

Meet Storm, the kitten we adopted last month. His mother (who we also adopted) is still pretty shy. But he’s an absolute charmer 🩶🐈‍⬛

Yes, this is my back garden. If I get the camera angle j-u-s-t right, and if you squint a little, you can’t see all the weeds 🤣🤣

Blown away by this brilliant braiding together of biography, art history and feminist rage. Unputdownable.

It’s adoption day at our place! So excited to collect this gorgeous pair from their foster carer this morning. The black one is the mother of the grey kitten. Still working on names - stay tuned. 🐈‍⬛ 🖤🩶

Prompted by an excellent recent @backlisted.bsky.social podcast episode about The Tombs of Atuan, I’m rereading all the Earthsea books. Loved them as a child, now finding them even richer as an adult. Ursula Le Guin is incomparable.

Recently, on a cold Saturday morning, Sue Castrique & I led Marrickville Historical Society on a guided walk, focusing on Louisa Lawson. We began at a tiny park in Harnett St, where Cynthia Turner's mosaic celebrates Louisa's journal for women ('The Dawn', 1888-1905).

In delightful news, I’ve been awarded an extension to my position as a Visiting Scholar at the State Library of NSW.
It’s now a three-year position (2024-2026) allowing me to finish working on my Louisa Lawson biography in a consistent way. For release by Text Publishing in 2027.

This memoir. OMG. So moving. So insightful. So beautifully written. An 80s childhood. Feminism. Anorexia. Literature. Sharp and wistful and utterly compelling.
