I really like drawing a certain kind of background in my pictures. All these squares and repeating patterns relax me...They don't require a lot of thinking. Plus, I have a hard time working a picture when the background is blank, or only one color. I'm not sure why that is. I need SOMETHING there.

A color can have the same value as another color and look darker or lighter depending on its hue and the colors it's next to.

I'm trying not to fuss over my pieces after they're "finished" anymore, but this Purple Problem was something I really wanted to find a solution to.

My real "fix" will be to draw her wearing blue from now on! I like blue better anyway!

Purple is such a pain to work with. Not only does it display inconsistently across devices, but two purples next to each other will bleed together unless the hue and contrast between them is really far apart. I adjusted this Raven piece and hopefully "fixed" it. (new version on the left)
