So technically speaking its easier to make a more engaging battle sequence without a gun then it is to constantly nerf them in almost every scenario they're in just to be able to have a gun

There are two ways that guns are added to Sci-Fi without it being an immediate win afaik:

- Battles involving guns have details that would be able to negate the immediate domination of using a gun in a fight, like shields or terrain
- Everyone (except who is winning at the time) is shit at aiming
