"This has been...an absolute joy." A 3d render, in tribute to the 15th Doctor. Despite that heartbreaking (imo) regeneration scene, I was really inspired by the nebula scene surrounding the Doctor & TARDIS. So I'd thought I'd make something like this in Blender!

Since 15 has departured in the S2 finale, I just had a thought; will the police box designed by Arwel Jones be put away for this next era of Doctor Who? For the uninitiated, Arwel Jones, designed the exterior of this TARDIS since Jodie's era. I'll be sad to see it go away as it's my favourite box 💔

Ammended the textures a bit more to bring out that blue, it's a subtle change but when you comparing it to my initial render, the differences are there...at least on my two monitors...'hoping you're able to notice the differences too! 😅.
Regardless I'm quite happy with the changes I've made!

So...this took a lot longer than I anticipated but, here's my 3d model of the 15th Doctor's TARDIS exterior. I'm really happy with how this box has turned out, both model & texture-wise. The windows still need some modifying so, I'll be working on those later down the line.

Some more progress with my TARDIS model kit!
Used some wooden skewers, chopped the sharp ends of and stuck them onto the corners. To act as the rounded bits of the corner posts. They are a bit big but they'll do for now

Added the base colour to the parts, two coats have been added in total. And I will be adding a couple of washes of lighter shades of paint to give it that multiple shades blue.
So far this is coming along well!

Today I've started building my very first TARDIS model kit, the design was done by @jamiebate.bsky.social !
So far, I've glued the roof and the base. Also started gluing the rear panels as well...not going to lie it was a bit fiddly so, I'm hoping this process goes well! 🙏

Also, I noticed that the signage on your image is different to the other images taken of this specific Police Box prop. Did you edit the "Police Public Call Box" text in? That's a good edit! 😂

Imagine if B&M stores looked like that with all the stores' exclusive Doctor Who sets up on them...
'Not going to lie, I'd think it'd look quite pretty, especially with the new packaging graphic re-design for the sets.

That looks amazing! I love the callback to the Tom Baker-style vortex! I also dig the transition to the planets as well, splendid work honestly! Here's a couple of "TARDIS flying in vortex" animations I've done myself. Not great though 😅

The neon tubes are simple cylinders with two shaders. One for the metallic ends and the other for the neon tubes themselves. The emission was a little difficult to do though so I'll send my node setup for those in this reply, and explain it as best as I can in a thread (1/?)

I've spent some time today working on this, a recreation of the BBC Two "Neon" ident in Blender. 'Not perfect.
The colours a little off and the texture for the backing of the "Two" sign isn't as accurate. Light bleeding on the backdrop is also a bit off but, oh well. 'Close enough I guess! 😅

I've spent some time today working on this, a recreation of the BBC Two "Neon" ident in Blender. 'Not perfect.
The colours a little off and the texture for the backing of the "Two" sign isn't as accurate. Light bleeding on the backdrop is also a bit off but, oh well. 'Close enough I guess! 😅
