I don't understand why anybody is still on Facebook.I'm in touch IRL with all the people I want to be in touch with!

Thank you I'll try that on my dad's phone. He is having a terrible time with the sliding thing because he has a hand tremor.
December 18, 2025 at 1:26 PM
Oh, now I understand why my 100 year old dad who has a hand tremor was having trouble turning off his alarms. My god, what a stupid thing to do! I luckily turned off auto-updates on my own phone after reading other peoples' complaints.

@propublica.org I will no longer donate if you start using AI.

And frankly, I do believe the planet would be better off without homo sapiens.

Though I love my children and grandchildren dearly, my main regret in life is having had them in the first place. Their futures look so grim right now.

Yes! For me it was the Bach Double Violin Concerto! Never was a professional, but I'm still practicing at age 73.

My 93 year old mother has to do this with her food because she's lost so many teeth she can't bite into things.
December 13, 2025 at 12:19 PM
Huh, looking back, the years between 50 and 60 were pretty great. Now at age 73 is when I'm feeling like my body is falling apart. My dad just turned 100 and I'm really not looking forward to that. Hoping I don't make it past 90!

Back in the old days you separated them because it was standard to wash in hot water, and the dark colors might run. Can't remember when or why we decided cold water was just as good (maybe detergents improved, maybe fabric dyes improved?) and therefore separating was no longer necessary.

In my adolescence (1970) I was almost killed in an accident because I did not have my seat belt fastened.

That was my take, as well.

I went to Garfield Elementary School in Medina, Ohio, in the 1950s so had an interest in James Garfield. Oddly, I don't remember having to learn about him while in school there.

I thought the writing was terrible and wasn't very impressed with the acting (I didn't know who any of the actors were, I'm an old person) But the source book, Destiny of the Republic, by Candice Millard is one of the best popular history books I've ever read!

I nearly stopped watching because of all the F-bombs!

I was 15 in 1967 and I can attest to that fact.

The older I get the more I think we should just dispense with men.

Why he thinks he's qualified to be a U.S. Senator when his only previous government experience is sitting on the planning board of a tiny town in Maine. Had he given thought to running for a state rep position first?

Right, and you can negotiate your hourly pay directly with your employer; no union needed!
November 11, 2025 at 2:21 PM
Yes, the conventional wisdom for dealing with malignant narcissists is to get them out of your life. You can't win with them. That should be the lesson. The only way to win is to get Trump out of our lives, i.e. stop electing monsters.

All of the downsides and none of the upsides of home ownership!

Agree completely and that's always been my worry about widespread use of so-called AI. And on top of that, doing research is really fun!

As an atheist who is forced to participate politely in Christmas, Easter, etc. I have no sympathy.

I think it's because he never matured from the developmental stage wherein the child is unable to distinguish other people from himself. I think normally it happens around age 2.
