I think they disable it because typically the UX sucks. Of course they could put effort into improving the desktop experience, but better to disable then to have an annoying desktop experience.

I would say that the ones who’ve actually read (and understood) Hayek, or even “I, Pencil”, have not fallen for the strongman argument.

I think many Republicans never really understood _why_ the free market works. They just paid lip-service because they associated it with American patriotism.
