Oh, so you can't opt out of ultimately having the work run through it. Maybe they're really just doing this to save time on their side? Any prof worth their salt should welcome questions. I hope this one would address any questions or concerns you have in front of the entire class.

Is he requiring this or simply encouraging it? Perhaps he is hoping on a bandwagon but not informed, aware, or cognizant of how generative AI works. (Shrugs). He should have answered these sorts of questions up front. Using any tool for education should not get in the way.

Absolutely we need opportunities to get experience with useful emerging technologies, but I still have so many questions! Is this the free version of Chat, or does the university have a license which limits data collection? What's the university's policy? I also wonder about any FERPA implications.

I get a special kind of joy out of seeing how other institutions and professors customize their courses' Canvas landing pages. Do the badges automatically show that they're achieved right on this page?

There's so many unknowns here. Which AI is he referring to? Is it an independent AI (not connected to, or saving on external servers)? What are the tool's terms and conditions? Is he doing this to grade, provide feedback, teach you something about AI, or just AI for AI's sake because all the things?
