Have you read @patrickwyman.bsky.social’s book, The Verge? If not, add it to the future reading list. Very similar lens but looking specifically at the Renaissance + Reformation

Portlanders should be aware of this pattern. That he’s choosing to create churn and incurring the cost of finding new leaders, rather than finding common ground with effective people in role and recruiting them to his team, points to a real leadership gap on Wilson’s part.

Three’s a pattern: Wilson is ridding himself of bureau leaders who independently advocate for their areas. While he may be within his rights to do so, he’s now removed multiple leaders who are generally well-respected for their competent leadership.

@alexzee.bsky.social thank you for writing this. I’d say the last point about the Parks Director is technically true, but only because the Prosper Director wasn’t placed on leave before apparently being told to resign or be fired: www.oregonlive.com/news/2025/06...
Prosper Portland leader to resign amid fractious budget fight

Those are sentences that no one is allowed to utter about Kirk if they want to keep their job

Yup, we need to realign to a grid, with strong connections and quick transfers. I have no idea the capacity effects of that, but in the context of service cuts, downtown is massively overserved based on both employment numbers and housing availability there.

We read it in my high school AP class. I remember being obsessed with it, I should probably read it again.

I’d take that a step further: one-time, random acts are a very small share of crime. There’s a small subset of bad actors with patterns and/or partners, who can be tracked and stopped. Instead, we act clueless and give the impression that it’s widespread disorder, which erodes trust and livability.

Ha I saw that one in my hood today too. Fuel efficient urban living - but make it “masculine”

I would guess she also senses blood in the water with him. I don’t think -13 with R’s and I’s is just noise.
