Floating Out to Wonderland
@mrslin.bsky.social
She/her. Gen-X, Midwest, WV. Understood the assignment & still won't go back. Hate talking about myself so the bio ends here.
What I love is looking up what's happening to me & seeing "oh yeah, that's normal." Then why the hell did nobody warn me?!

Train to Busan and Stand By Me both come to mind. But I'm noticing that a lot of the public transportation films take place outside the U.S. and a lot of the walking/biking films involve children as protagonists instead of adults. My two suggestions are both prime examples.

Never had to throw hands but I have waited in lines in the freezing cold before sunrise, & that sucked. Nowadays it's not really an issue. No real "doorbusters" anymore. Takes some of the fun away from it but I appreciate being able to wake up at a decent time & go inside a warm store instead.

WTF Woodstock, that's your cousin!

Words are cheap. If she wants to do a complete 180, a simple apology isn't gonna cut it.

fwiw the algorithm thinks I wanna see these comically small, ridiculously overpriced overglorified closets with a toilet, too. I haven't seen any for a while, though, so apparently they've unsuccessfully moved onto you.

It's called credit where it's due. It's good she's on the right side of this argument, & I for one appreciate it. However, it doesn't absolve her from everything else.

Work, cats, gummies, getting lost in memes & general frivolity, looking forward to the holidays but dreading the doldrums afterward

Just pointing out that if you're an ax murderer in prison, you're already guaranteed food, housing, & basic dental care, because it's been determined that withholding any of those is "cruel & unusual punishment." We acknowledge their absence is cruel to the convicted but not to the free.

Holy shit, going by that photo, I'd think he was around my age, maybe a little younger. I just turned 50.

Plus, is there a main story arc this year, like the golf course, or the attempt to get Abbott to be a charter school, or Janine's absence while working for the district?

What I've noticed is they're moving away from school stories & more toward the main characters themselves - the DMV, Gregory's party, etc. Even the camping episode was about them than it was about being educators in charge of a bunch of kids.

Correction: you and I are in the minority.
November 5, 2025 at 8:25 PM
Then again, I'm smart enough to realize that just because I feel someone is good in one area - in this case, TV - does not mean they're meant for every role. And to end a fandom when someone starts spouting racist, sexist, etc. shit. Apparently I'm in the minority on those counts.

Hell I'll admit it: I watched it back in the day. I was a fan, especially the celebrity edition. But the heavily edited & scripted version of him is little like the campaign trail & elected version. It's still confounding to me.

I mean, at least JFK & Reagan were charming, charismatic, well-spoken. And I'm saying that as someone who was born way after JFK's death & who can't stand Reagan; gotta give credit where it's due. It would've made more sense with either of them.
November 5, 2025 at 7:42 PM
It really is. Even the Reagan worship back in the 80's wasn't this bad; it was more akin to how I've heard Kennedy was seen back in the 60's. But you could have conversations & even debates with them. This is seriously cult-like, & I can't even understand, why HIM?!

That's another reason we're losing our democracy. We would do well to remember that one party has given up the right to choose what works best for each electorate, and not copy their downfall.
