Trying to make sense of it all. Wish me luck.
There are Americans walking around today (maybe incl. me!) who are blissfully unaware that because our country’s security agencies are no longer paying attention to foreign threats, something nasty is going to happen to them. Then it will be like 9/11 all over again, full throttle

I would so like to see Donald Trump drive a car. A used Tesla, ideally. (Was this a thing, and I missed it? Musk saying, Baby you can drive my car, and maybe I’ll love you?)

I personally would have worn my Sean Duffy tshirt with red flannel PJs and fluffy slippers.

I would much rather sit next to pajama-clad than next-to-nothing-clad, any gender

In the bathroom they’ll use, put out a mug with miniature dental and hotel giveaways like toothpaste, floss, shower cap, mini-soaps, lotion, shampoo, conditioner and q-tips. Except for q-tips, free

Why doesn’t the government just give food stamps to everyone? Do away with the work requirements and the income thresholds. If it bothers people that some people need help buying food, give everyone help buying food.

Most students today don't read the book.

My husband once told me he thought it would be amusing to write down every reason that his students came up with for not doing whatever it was he was asking them to do, and then he decided it would just be depressing. So not liars perhaps but definitely escape artists.

An AI summary that's misleading. Would have been better to link to the CNN article.

It’s interesting that the agents wearing masks are acting like thugs and the one agent without a mask looks apologetic that his colleagues are behaving so badly

Milquetoast version of this story. Politico has it better

Kansas county agrees to pay $3 million over law enforcement raid on a small-town newspaper
The 2023 raid triggered a national debate about press freedom focused on Marion, a town of about 1,900 people.

You mean "right" as in "right here" not as "a good thing right." Right?

Notice that Rep. Chris Pappas, who is running to replace her, says he is opposed. At least HE can read the tea leaves

Shaheen et al would never have “negotiated” this debacle if Schumer had just said no. This is on him.

The smile I can do without, but the help? Hey, I need it!

This started with Michael Berry, CEO of Barnes and Noble in the early 2000s, who told employees if someone asked for a book, they had to take them to the shelf and hand them the book. Personally I don't want to go back to the days when employees would wave their hand vaguely in the right direction

I don't watch videos usually but I watched this. She is such an intelligent, humane person.

People have forgotten that before Obamacare, if you had pre-existing conditions, you had two choices: do without healthcare insurance, or pay for insanely expensive healthcare. Insurance companies, and Republicans, liked that. They want that back.

To get a Peace Prize, don’t you have to care a little about other people?
November 7, 2025 at 8:15 AM
Yes, but. I live in a rural AL town part time, and last year four people were murdered. (It was a bad year) If this year “only” three people were murdered, and you said crime is down 25% that would not make me feel better. I need the murder rate to be down 100% to feel better.
