Agreed. So sad to watch "our ABC" aimlessly wandering through the motions, necromancing long dead "controversies" to try to entice a soupcon of outrage from their remaining audience.

And many disabled people feel that it's not safe for them to move in with a lover, or to marry as the loss of independent basic income can make them incredibly vulnerable, especially if they lose DSP entirely, and would be required to apply again from scratch in the event of a split.

It's all so unnecessary. If I had a little less of this cruelty, might have more capacity to work part time, serve the community, volunteer. Instead there's too much relentless suffering to try to transcend instead of being permitted a little privacy and dignity.

It's also why sharing a house with others is often too difficult too, as it's another excuse for invasion of privacy and also, rent assistance decreases due to (assumed) savings through sharing.

I'm trying to find some comforting words ... and yeah, 20 minutes and all I could come up with was a rant about negative gearing ... sorry.

They didn't want my sickness allowance and later DSP to be constantly automatically withheld so they marked my file advising that I was subject to constant false reports that I was "not sick", "working for cash" and "living with a rich man" etc. etc. So, I know exactly where this will end.

I was an active environmental activist (ie a nuisance who was stopping some big money doing stupid things) diagnosed with a lifelong disability and living on DSP in the 90s, and the local Social Security office were kind enough to protect me from the 100s of false reports.

That's nice. I've SEEN that, never seen a photo of that lovely slender disguise pose!

I'd like to sue for defamation, and for the damage it did me.
I loved work, yes, part-time & usually ended in burnout, as I have to manage multiple disabilities, but I lworked hard, paid tax, reported every cent, but my false Robodebt broke my capacity to trust and I can't work at all now.

How can the Labor government permit this disgrace to continue - they are abandoning their responsibilities.
If this was happening on my watch I'd be so deeply ashamed and want to stop this criminal level corruption.
