I'm not surprised. The NYC DSA wasn't going to back his candidacy. Trying to unseat Jeffries would have been a long shot even with their backing. It's still disappointing though.

@senadorajulie.bsky.social, what is your stance on removing the president of the United States from office for treason, bribery, and high crimes and misdemeanors?

Also will you refuse to provide unanimous consent to fast track Trump nominees even if it means you might work Friday as a result?

That would be the goal, but some people in the base are feeling overly cautious, and it isn't like anyone in elected office wants to take any big swings if they think "You'll just vote for us regardless if you want to do anything at all about Trump" and can win by default.

The problem with that, as I see it, is that most elected Dems aren't attacking Republicans hard enough and that's what I'm criticizing them for.

I think that's understandable too. They look at Democrats as their only realistic hope of doing something about Trump and so any criticism will just make people not want to support them. From that point of view we should be attacking Republicans, not Democrats.

Even aside from all that there are still basic societal functions that people are going to want to get back to so as not to disrupt their lives further. Trash still needs to get picked up, fires still need to be fought, someone will need to investigate non-regime crimes etc.

I prefer the Nicholas Cage version myself.

That's unfair! They're also waiting for at least one house of congress to be handed to them in 2026.

Oh sure. Primary challenges just mean they lose their access to their aristocratic perks altogether, but they also don't have to go to work anymore either. Imagine still needing to go to work and not getting your perks!

A quiet life of getting ready to run of governor of Georgia/Senate/President.

Oh, so that's why I've seen people defend Democrats by posting about how Dems have actually done unprecedented levels of obstruction that made Republicans change the rules to stop them, and how you're being unfair and criticizing the wrong people and they can't do any more than they're doing.

So at least a couple more years.
