Fitba and Celtic, retro computers and the ridiculous
Just found this match report on the Scotland game from a non-UK website. Cypress fans didn’t take it well at all. italia1990.com/uefa/group-5...

I doubt added time would’ve been a thing without him!

Think MON’s been playing Monopoly and found one of these in his pocket.

Well, back in the day six mins added time was almost unheard of.

Remember Gough’s “extra day” goal for Scotland vrs Cypress? All the fuss made because it was six mins into added time.

Saint Mirren is a dreadful team to play but man-for-man we really should be outclassing them.

Our players couldn’t pass wind tonight.

That’s embarrassing. It shows that the SPFL is the pinnacle of their ambition. It’s clear then that they see Europe as a bit of an away day - no more than a wee jolly; an adventure to break the routine of domestic games rather than a platform they want to establish the club on.
November 22, 2025 at 12:49 PM
Europe couldn’t fight its way out a wet paper bag and even if there’s budget and a political will to spend, Europe doesn’t have the military supply chain to spend it or the ability to produce enough to sustain the front line. Trump’s behaviour is shocking. Europe’s decades of neglect is a disgrace.

Thing is, if today’s board said we couldn’t afford to sign players because we’re about to upgrade the stadium, that would be fine. But they’re not. And they’re leaving us in the dark about exactly what their plan is, as well as their ambition and targets.
November 22, 2025 at 12:24 PM
No. I don’t think the accusation was hoarding cash. Fans were more worried about the other lot hitting the ten and thought the money we did have should go into the team, not the stadium build. It was about priorities. Fergus insisted stadium first. He was proven right. Everything flowed from that.

Difficult to see how this is going to play out.

It’d take a blanket boycott but don’t think enough supporters want to go down that route as we’re not in an existential crisis like the 90s.

But we do need a shake up. It’s not normal for a plc to have so little board changes over such a long period. But Desmond’s ego is huge. He won’t budge.
November 21, 2025 at 11:06 PM
Yes, but years ago we also had an overdraft the board couldn’t afford and a bank that called time on them.

There’s no compelling moment like that on the horizon. Nothing big enough to knock Desmond and his minions off their perch.

The club has sizeable cash reserves and Desmond has deep pockets.

Tbh, our track vrs sides like that is not very good so they can have them!

I agree, especially in European competition. Very poor showing from our clubs. The national team showing the way.
November 19, 2025 at 9:05 AM
Let’s hope we can do that for more than one night only!

Delighted for him. A big personal milestone on the road back to his best.
November 19, 2025 at 9:02 AM
We’ve never properly replaced him.

Great thread!

C’mon Scotland!

I named that Tim in four!

A terrific player. Ticked every box - skill, poise, athleticism, attitude, intelligence, tackling and aerial power.
