The creepy thing for me is how many people in my life I didn't meet on the forums are goons

Feels like we are basically at the "Josef Hartinger" stage at Dachau, when things looked like they would still follow traditional procedures & guardrails. Seems like we are at most months away from losing any hope of oversight or stopping things at all.

It's not the ideal way, but I loaded a ton of books on my phone (just Apple Books, nothing fancy) & I really try to reach for that instead of social media when I have 15 minutes to wait at the Dr's office. It's really helped reading more / doom scrolling less. Especially easier to read stuff like YA

i love how with all of the analytics and shit there's still a major component to minor league baseball that revolves around whether or not you were on some arbitrary list 4 years ago.

now now you cannot expect them to have the resources to perform due diligence that's able to compete with the behemoth in the space: the 'cup of coffee' newsletter.

i assume its all going to be quiet rah rah american mythmaking, the intersection of all of the buzzwords and acronyms behind this

a smarter person than the commenter would probably be able to connect the dots between intelligent baseball writers making intelligent baseball content all having "lefty" political views and there being none of that content in the right wing sports ecosphere & figure out why that is.

Yes, it wasn't that long ago, this isn't ancient history. Nor is it particularly out of the mainstream to know this. Esquire Is no far left tabloid. www.esquire.com/news-politic...
What the Zuccotti Park Raid Really Means
The precedent has been set, all over the country: Public protest shall be polite, quiet, and invisible.

Ran out of chars- I am not saying "Obama should be in the hague!!!" blah blah, just on his presidency being great, in the "did he personally make my life better" way I think it's a likely yes. in a "did he leave the country in a good place" way i think it's a huge no.

Obama was happy to do a ton of war without congress, asserted the right to kill americans (abroad, to be fair) who they labeled terrorists without due process, NSA domestic surveillance, violently ending Occupy movements - he handed a lot to Trump1 in both apparatus & justification.
January 28, 2026 at 9:38 PM
it is such a painful road to go down with people about how obama directly led us here. he did 'dictator' stuff too (military action without congress, extrajudicial murder of american citizens, occupy, gitmo, i am very clearly just playing a few hits from a long list) & handed the keys over to trump.

if there is close to a universal human experience with grief its probably getting drunk, and your buddies being the ones to try and get you drunk to snap you out of it. there are entire cultures whose shared grief process begins with getting piss drunk and not acting sad.
January 28, 2026 at 5:59 PM
the claim that getting pissed with your mates doesn't look like grieving is so fucking laughable on its face, i cannot believe you smugly linked this post, or even said it in the first place. were you counting merch sales and bathing in the attention, making regular TV appearances too?

you can just delete this instead of twisting in knots to do the thing where you openly admitted you were missing critical information causing you to interpret "attack" as "criticize," but still right somehow. you can just have been wrong this one time, its not a big deal.
