“You made the mistake of stopping in New York City.” There was a huff of exhaustion as he raised his hands above him, like there was some grand reveal. “Yeah, I know where I am. My flight leaves tomorrow.” Again, he peered down at me. “For Mexico, I mean. I really want to get the conchas.” “What are you—” “And Pozole…damn that Pozole is fucking delicious.” “Shut it, Bond! I’m giving my monologue, this is my time!” “Sorry.” The chair squeaked some more as my leaning quickened. “Go ahead, sorry.” The leg clicked onto the cement as I switched to jiggling my leg up and down. It was quieter. “T-Thank you.” He coughed before continuing. Man, he lacked so much attention he might as well have blushed and kissed me when I apologized. “I have planted bombs all thorough out New York’s sewer system! They are designated to go off—” “You mean this sewer system?” I smelled the water everywhere and heard him through the raging waters that, also, didn’t care about his monologue. “Yes. Anyway, there’s nothing you can do Mr. Bond. I’ll have this city leveled!” “Yeah, I don’t care about New York.” His eyes popped out. “What?” “I’m not American, I don’t care about these cities.” “But…you’re Bond, you’re supposed to care…”
