Ah yes, the common habit of adding temporary extra eyes to one's face. Sure 4d vision is good for live events, but it messes with the nasal passages.

Yes - the key thing is having stuff that cannot be deleted remotely or relies on a third party to decrypt. Which may also mean preserving the players and platforms if computer makers start blocking the ability to play media without proprietary software like printers now do with ink cartridges.

If time and location are being exploited by participants to inflate costs, then scale back. In the larger context of repairs across the whole system being slow or delayed or at risk due to austerity & a hostile administration this makes no sense.

I get that, but it's unreasonable that the only option was 100% more than a larger project, 150% more than the original proposal & maybe the most expensive station ever. At that level location is an excuse. At some point reasonable means is if it can't be built at x amount don't build it.

I think that and "boomer Americana" are bullshit generalizations.

Like the issues Crumb represents - who gets to be a talented asshole & how, the line between edgy & toxic, etc. - didn't start nor end with him or his generation & didn't include the entire scene nor, some may argue, all of his work

All speculation based on zero info about an agency then run by someone who left under accusations of mismanagment.

Come on, it will not hurt to admit this is unjustifiable - at best it is mismanagement & exploiters overcharging because they can.

Also good / attractive design shouldn't be obscenely expensive nor looks good as a model or from specific distant angles but is a dull space for those in it due to no warm colors or adornments. It should be easily maintained & look good as it ages.

what people really want in a transit system is one really fancy station. and once you've got it you don't even need the other ones really, because why would you want to go somewhere else? you're already at the fancy station

It's not the case. It's exponentially more than other station projects. The massive rebuld of the south Red Line terminal cost half as much. It's 150% over the original proposed cost. And at almost half a billion it should take months, not years, to build.

Like how the photo of Liz Phair has a "I don't want to be part of this discourse.' expression.

Also it pretends that the left doesn't organize to contain and oppose bad actors. I mean the universal groans over some participants aren't subtle. I think people conflate a material understanding, sometimes empathy, of why some become cranks as endorsing what they do.

And some orgs do have issues, at least one is more ugly liability than asset, but the left is dealing with how some dedicated activists can have major flaws due to relentless marginalization. Meanwhile the right tacitly accepts "fringe" groups because the only real difference is in tone.
