It was freezing cold and my brother's disability is similar to mine. It's a neuromuscular condition and walking long distances is very very difficult and dangerous. The cold weather makes it worse so the thought that my brother and his kid had to walk over a mile is ridiculous and infuriating.

Maybe their great great grandparents did and then their children. But they are generations so far out they forgot or don’t even care.

And it’s crazy cause of all the people like me, first gen child of immigrants, this is f-ckin’ par for the course. We love the US and those people, like the ones defending this president, they don’t know what sacrifice is, or how difficult it was for immigrants to come here. They lost their way

And me. I am having a successful career (also a graphic designer) and I’m contemplating retiring early and living in the US and Portugal.

My mother retired w/ a successful and fulfilling career in nursing. My father was a successful chemical engineer and navy vet. My sister was recognized as one of the best educators in the US. My brother is one of the top graphic designers in his field.

Cause trust me, if those “Americans” were better, than why did they beg people like my parents to come over and be teachers, nurses, and engineers. And I get why they are afraid of immigrants but they really don’t know… have they paid attention to how successful their children become?
