Music about which one could justifiably say, "That's not music." Saxophone (tortured). Cornputer (despised). I read a lot and walk around cities.

An algorithm beat me this morning, because seeing this (from the Suno Studio FB group) got me "engaged", and it's bleak out there. I did like one guy dispensing the advice that, until you've made 6000-7000 ai songs, you don't know what separates quality from novelty.

I'll be in Austin, TX this weekend for my sixth No Idea Festival, performing a solo saxophone piece and a commissioned 4-channel electroacoustic piece with live bass by Juan Garcia.

Dearest noise-making friends:
What if you had the Moog Drummer from Another Mother, but you could make it... Dumber? Well.

Just finished this after a few years of stops and starts. It's good! More than half traces the mutating relationship between Qi & Dao in Chinese thought, contrasts with Greek thought - oops, no geometry - plus Heidegger (I always like a tale of small diffs btwn China and Greece turning big)

Evidence. Verdict: excellent. Connects to a decent chunk of trail on the west side. Fishing docks, urban decay, railroad porn. My favorite part is still just north, where you're riding over water but closer to it. Low rent way to feel like you're doing something you aren't supposed to be able to do.

I've pretty much been doing this. With the windows open and a massive amount of birds, including some coloratura virtuosos, just outside, louder than the city surrounding them, it dilates this fragile moment of spring that always seems gone before I notice it.

Was recently in Ankara doing music and sound design for Oedipus Variations (A Particle of Dread), Sam Sheppard's last play. It was incredibly challenging and has turned out pretty stunning. It will likely play for a long time, so, if you find yourself in Ankara, check it out. Unrelated photos:
