Thanks for sharing! I love Lookbook! I go back and listen to this mini-set they did at the State Fair all the time: www.thecurrent.org/feature/2010...

I say just have it decide who gets home field advantage in the world series. Stakes like that are guaranteed to drive players to take it more seriously.

This may seem like a joke to you, but my restaurant, The Mouths of Decadence, went out of business thanks to these two.

Are you even imagining though? It doesn't sound like you're even imagining.

I was only able to be there until about 4:15, but was thrilled to see all the support and happy to use my voice in solidarity with our MFE siblings.

"Give me a low enough information voter and a ballot on which to place a name, and I shall kill Archimedes" - Becka Thompson, I think?

Sorry, not 50%+, just more than Frey's total. Or something like that.
November 5, 2025 at 5:49 AM
I just don't think I'm understanding what you think is the solution here. If Fateh was the sole opponent, I can't see him winning, and I think Davis and Hampton benefited from the coalition.

With the right candidate, maybe consolidating works. I don't think we had that this year.
November 5, 2025 at 5:01 AM
I'm not seeing how a different process would've gotten us a different result. Making this Fateh vs. Frey was exactly what Frey wanted, and it seems like he would've won even more easily if that was the case.
November 5, 2025 at 4:36 AM
The problem isn't a need to coalesce around one candidate. If anything, doing so this year seemed harmful. A lot of people didn't like Frey but weren't willing to go as far left as Fateh. Frey benefited from being able to paint the race as 1 on 1 rather than having to address all of his challengers.
November 5, 2025 at 4:27 AM
I think Fateh has to have a path to 50%+ as well, otherwise he could be eliminated. So, if his 2nd and 3rd choices didn't get him across that 50% line but Davis's did, Fateh could be eliminated before Davis.

Much less likely, but not implausible.

Yeah, many good results tonight. Feeling positive overall even if not everything turns out well.

Woke up to this news today, and I knew this was going to be a good election day.

I don't think I hate this overall, but the glare off the court seems so much more obnoxious than usual.

I'm sorry, we're just posting this without any mention of the ump turtlenecks?

I'm a teacher, and yes, exactly. Starting out, I'd write out almost word for word what I wanted to say in any lecture. 15 years in, I'm less focused on what I'm going to say (because I've been saying a version of it for 15 years) and more focused on *how* to make sure the key points land.

Great. Gonna spend the rest of the night debating "Am I wrong?" vs. "How does everyone else think anchors work?"

Didn't need this in my life.
