With all these talk of ”bringing Jobs back”, let me remind you of this Steve Jobs quote:
”Life can be much broader once you discover one simple fact: Everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you and you can change it.”

Reading @reidhoffman.bsky.social’s Superagency again, real slowly this time, and I am just thinking that this sounds like ”information wants to be free”, and ”information at your fingertips” all lver again. Will we really see this potential levelling of the playing field via AI?

(Niklas Zennström, Kazaa, Skype, Atomico, Neko Health and more)

“If you're lonely when you're alone, you're in bad company.” (Jean-Paul Sartre) // Too few people eat alone today. Putnam went the other way, writing about the decline of social connections, and that's where we are. Solitude is seen as disease. But when do you do your thinking?

The Pleasures And Sorrows of Work by alain de botton: 5/5. Philosophy and reportage intertwined in a dark, humourous fashion only Alain could get away with. His best #book in my opinion (but #read them all, they’re all good).

Enrique Vila-Matas: Never Any End to Paris. 5/5 typical quote (from memory): ”I rented the apartment from Marguerite Duras to learn the language but never picked up a thing since she spoke in *superior French*” 😅 #books

The #book to #read this weekend is The Sun Also Rises about the lost generation of the 1920s. What not to read is The Road by Cormac McCarthy. That book should only be read in a lounge chair in Saint Tropez. But both 5/5

And these times, you have to read The Flat White Economy by Douglas McWilliams_UK. A clear 5/5 on how to organise an open society for growth and innovation. No picture of the book this time but the author. This subway ride is mentioned in the second edition (he expected a Rolls) 😅
