I first remember seeing this ad in the 60's as a kid... I remember my parents commenting that they thought it was a cute commercial. Jack was very popular back then, still is in the western U.S. A Jumbo Jack w/cheese, two tacos, and an order of onion rings please.

I'm getting a few pomegranates here before the birds do. I can't believe it's Dec 8th and this tree still has leaves on it - the leaves are usually blown away by the 3rd week of November. I'm not a pomegranate fan so I do let the birds get most of them. Enjoy your naked day! 😎

I make jellies & jams to gift friends & neighbors at the holidays. Mostly, I make them from the fruits growing at theirs & my property. This is from the cactus pears I juiced & froze in October from my neighbor's cactus. Yesterday, I made jalapeno jelly from my own garden chilis.

This year's harvest pulled in a little over 27-pounds worth of Prickly Cactus Pear. If you've been a follower of mine for awhile, you'll know I make jelly for the holidays from these little guys. I will be burning off the needles today to get them ready for juicing.🌵

Lamajoon (also spelled lahmacun) is a traditional Middle Eastern dish that is typically topped with spiced minced meat. It's sometimes called "Turkish pizza" or "Armenian pizza," and consists of a thin flatbread where the topping is smeared (not spread) and is heated through until crisp. I use Saj Lavash flatbread because it is super-thin and it crisps up nicely without burning. I place it on a hot skillet for about 3-4 minutes. This dish is delicious and, as skimpy as it is on toppings, it's quite filling. So much so that I think it should be a global staple food -- I used a jarred eggplant vegetable spread that I picked up at a local Middle Eastern grocery store, but I've seen similar spreads at Sprouts.

I'm making lamb & ground beef dolmades to serve other's for the upcoming holidays. I'll also make vegan varieties for myself to get through the Nativity Fast (Nov 15 - Dec 24) in which I refrain from all meat, fish, cheese/dairy, eggs, oil, and wine. I'm creative during this time of year. 😇
