It does look goofy but it's mostly from trying to put the art and animations from AoT into AC Shadows which doesn't work out well. Still, it's just a throwaway quest with goofy art that passes fast and not the war crime some people try to make it out to be. At least that was my take on it.

still expecting Juubei and Abe-no-Seimei who have been teased forever and still surprised stuff with actual art like Maxwells Demon never dropped, plus there was the rumor of a Strange/Fake crossover that got delayed
