Americans tend to get made fun of outside of the US because we tend to be overly polite and reserved (on average) which singles us out in other countries culture wise, but I honestly have a lot of pride in that kindness we try to share, even when the world is bleak.

Maybe its just because I was raised semi-traditionally and strict, but its really not that hard to share a small amount of kindness to others with a simple gesture like holding a door or thanking someone for serving you

I have a bad habit of watching doors and entrances, but I normally see older folk hold doors for others more than younger now
