(rambling) I think it's always a big choice whether or not to include honourifics in TL. For period dramas or things obviously not set in JP (Emma, FMA, etc.) I think removing them from the TL makes sense and doesn't take much away.

I managed to get Emma vol.10 while in JP and it's been fun comparing the original text to the official TL and the fan TL... They both took their own liberties in meaning.
