You shouldn’t need a tech tour and app to turn the lights on.

@zzyzx.bsky.social Did you know about archive.org/details/ajc0... ?It's not in relisten

Since Aadam taped everything he saw, I assume he did it all stealth mode. The tape might be 1st gen but sounds like it was done on a Walkman

The problem with Liquid Glass is that it draws attention to itself. 40+ years after Apple introduced the first Mac you'd think it. would be ingrained in Apple culture that a great UI does just the opposite (necessary but not sufficient)

You know what's cool? In Laura Poitras' doc "Cover-Up" on Seymour Hersh, there's a shot of him in the 70s with a copy of Richard Barnet's "Global Reach" on what looks like his inner-cache bookshelf.

stereogum.com/2476602/80-a... - lots of deep cuts here. Lots of the hits. Tons of love for On The Beach, esp. Ambulance Blues. Pretty sure no picks from Time Fades Away, my personal favorite. Pleased to see Kurt Vile's pick is from Life (no one picked a Landing On Water cut).

Just learned that U of Toronto physics prof David Harrison passed recently. He's the reason this poli sci/english student showed up with a copy of Dancing Wu Li Masters at his office hours, talked about getting off the pre-law path, burned 2 years, switched majors, and never looked back

‪@zzyzx.bsky.social‬ - given this week's loss of Gordon Lightfoot, any chance you could use your influence to get someone to sing "Esther" to the tune of "The Wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald"? Or the other way - I think both will work because of meter and stuff. And then upload to youtube? Thx

The lag in this #MLB game 3 is horrible. At least once a minute. Don't know if it's due to Fox, CITY-TV, or Telus, but whoever "they" is, they figured out how to enshittify live sports. Never had this problem with Curt Gowdy calling the game on NBC with a pair of rabbit ears for grainy reception

Is it cheating at Slate Pears to do this:
```
cat /usr/share/dict/words | grep -v -e '[^a-z]' -e '[^'$BASE$LET1$LET2']' |
grep "$LET1$LET2" |
grep -v -e $LET1'[^'$LET2']' -e $LET1'$' -e '^'$LET2 -e '[^'$LET1']'$LET2 | awk '{printf("%d %s\n", length($0), $0) }' | sort -nr
```
