There's a lot of talk about lack of color from modern movies (and life) but there are also some stunningly chromatic ones:
Midsommar
Enter The Void
The Substance
Last Night In Soho
Everything Everywhere All At Once
I think this is why I prefer thrillers & horror.

Hollywood’s dark era: where did all the colour from movies go?
Blockbuster sequel Wicked: For Good has become the latest film to receive complaints about both the lack of colour and the inconsistent lighting

This is a well informed study on why films just don't look good anymore. The idea of haptic or tactile is probably why kids watch youtubes of people crunching candy. It's visceral. They crave it. Films shot wide in deep focus using real backgrounds felt visceral too. www.youtube.com/watch?v=tvwP...

I've been trying to simulate mixing real paint together and it's not so simple on a computer that uses RGB values i.e. light vs actual pigment. I think i'm close here with the help of #houdini

I spent the morning at Whitney Museum of American Art and was taken to another dimension. There's so much to love but these stood out to me:
Linda Lomahaftewa – Untitled (Woman's Faces)
Elsie Driggs – Pittsburgh
Joan Brown – The Bride

My daughter has inherited my talent for spotting an actor and naming the other films they were in. I don’t know how useful that is in the real world and it’s also ironic that I can’t remember people’s faces and names or where I met them in the real world.

"JODI"
My Aunt did an abstract painting in the sixties based on the halftone print pattern. This is my attempt at making it procedural using #houdini Feed in any image and it'll render nice melty dots. Happy birthday, Jodi Foster!

Someone played me this at a party in 1987 and I never really listened to it again. I might have owned it on cassette. It still moves me. Great voice. Great guitar and production. Peak eighties. youtu.be/-0QQLRtzNYE?...

Words that when you say them correctly people don’t know what you mean so you have to say them wrong and they’re like “ah yes” and then correct you:

I watched the BLACKPINK documentary and I didn't realize that K-Pop artists do an intensive training for 4+ years. Not that it's bad but it falls more in line with classical musicians and athletes take rather than rock musicians who play in a garage and do coke until they accidentally write a hit.

I’m proud to be a New Yorker right now even though I’m registered upstate and merely got to vote for the new town clerk and head of highways and roads, I felt like we all made a difference!

I'm turning into my Grand Uncle Eddie who saw me mucking around with a bass and a distortion pedal at age 17 and told me "Why don't you just play a song? You know, like Frank (Sinatra)!"

Just saw the new Antares thing that changes your voice into a different voice. How about this: Go onto instagram and find one of a million people who can sing and ask them if they want to sing on your tune. Hell, get out of your house, go hear a band and talk to them. What are we doing here?

As I'm listening to a French radio station playing Horace Silver's "A Song For My Father" I'm reminded that there's more music created before I was born that I could ever listen to in my life time. Forget everything since... Such an abundance of beauty. Why would we ever outsource it?
