For seismic hazard modeling, we refer to these uncertainties as “between-model uncertainty.” We also incorporate additional uncertainty estimates when we want to capture the full uncertainty because of the recognition that alternative models are (typically) developed to model mean/median metrics.

Imaging identifies a transition to supershear rupture at the Mendocino Triple Junction (MTJ), indicating a role of changes in geologic structure on rupture process. Fiber-optic cables (and distributed acoustic sensing, DAS) may help to monitor offshore earthquakes.

This was NOT a 1500-ft tall wave traveling away from the landslide.
The 1500-ft number has been described as the splash caused by impact of the landslide with water in the fjord. Wave heights in the fjord were very high, however.
