I used to do that before having a kid. Now I'm lucky to get 30 minutes where I'm not burnt out from work and parenting at the end of the day.
Don't get me wrong. No regrets here. I love my daughter more than anything.
Progress is slow as hell but I'll never give up. I still work on it every day.

This exact thing happened to me too actually and figured it was a me thing because I'm not a professional animator/artist. Seeing this gives me a little bit of hope 😅

People have been saying single player games are dead for 20 years. It may not be as lucrative but there's definitely an audience for it because I don't care about multiplayer or mobile games and I know a lot of people with similar opinions.

I'm French Canadian and I didn't speak English even a little when I was like 7 but I got into FFIV and wanted to understand so I basically taught myself. A lot of it was guesswork (thank you cognates!) And I've always been top of the class in English since. I've been fluent for decades. FF ftw

Then that PC is likely a good deal. The GPU isn't bad. I'm still running a regular 2060 with three monitors since 2020 and it still plays most games fine at 1080. 5060 ti is a lot better than that.

Seems to be pricey for what's in it despite the discount but it's not too bad either. I'd look into building one yourself. That's what I did last week. Well I reused the GPU, PSU and SSDs.

That would have been a really unpopular opinion back then. I had a roommate who loved to tell us how amazing the Wii was going to be and how much the PS3 was going to suck. The Spider-Man font was one of his favorite argument against the console but every little thing seemed to be an issue.

Style is more important to me for sure but I can understand wanting high resolution and framerates if you invested in high end hardware. Graphical fidelity and framerate are just fun extra fluff to me. I like it, sure, but it doesn't make or break a game.

Yeah, same. I gave a presentation about unit tests at a new job and it was full of pictures of Charles Barkley making faces. And yeah office dev is trivially easy compared to the shit we do in indie games so it's a lot like playing on easiest difficulty.

He didn't want to be involved in remakes even when he was still at Konami so I doubt it'd happen even in the best of worlds. The team who made Delta were very faithful (to a fault even) to the original game. It's still Hideo Kojima's game. I'd be down for more remakes done like that by the same team

Not THAT weird to me tbh. KOS-MOS pulled a weapon several times her size in Xenosaga out of a pocket dimension (or however they called it within the official lore).

I've been happily out of the loop for nearly a decade. I still get news, I just don't get into communities and try to avoid reading people's opinions on games- especially those that are echoed so much that even people who haven't played the game repeat them like it's gospel.
