Ouch. I'm sorry, to me that just reinforces that adoptees are tolerated, not welcomed and accepted as kept kids are. Like we didn't already have enough reason for attachment and abandonment disorders? So hurtful.

I reject the notion that I was "rescued" and that I owe my a-parents. I fulfilled THEIR lives and THEIR wish to be parents. Its so weird to me that we're expected to be grateful for being ripped from our mothers, our families, our lands. Saviour nonsense. Blech.

Right. I just felt relieved not to have to continue that relationship after my mother passed away, tbh. I never fit in anyway.

There are few safe places for adoptees to share online. It's too bad, social media is how I found a brother but sharing about it seemed controversial. We can't win.

Imagine if my bio-mother had been offered rental assistance and counseling instead of coercion and shame. She might still be here today.
