These companies own vast libraries of creative work they didn't personally create (made by their employees), and strengthening these laws mainly increases their control. I'm not talking about like, "morally can you steal someone's style", I mean actually codifying that into law would be disastrous

Think about how many creators have had TV shows they made, and would LOVE to make more of, cancelled on them by streaming services, where they *do not have the right* to make more of them. They do not own what they created, *because* of copyright

The point isn't really AI; it's that copyright laws rarely help small creators sue corporations for theft. Instead, they often TAKE work from actual creators— artists can't use characters THEY designed, because e.g Disney owns the rights to them fanwork writers + artists can get legal threats, etc.

It actually makes me less paranoid bc it removes the "personal" aspect from blocking entirely. Like now I know most people who have me blocked have never even seen my username before and just pressed a single button based on the title of a blocklist, so it's whatever.

Most people literally do not think about the person they're putting on the blocklist for longer than it takes to put them on it. Or at ALL if a bot is used to construct the blocklist. So it's very silly to me to think about it too hard as if it's a personal thing when it probably isn't.
