Phils lost 2-1 to LA in 11 innings. Game ended on a soul crushing, bases loaded E1 by Orion Kerkering.

Game only went to extras because of a missed call by HP ump.

Both starters were magnificent. All the pitchers were great. Phils only managed 4 hits in 11, which won’t win games.

Season is over.

Phils top LAD, 8-2, to keep the NLDS alive. After 2 horrible games, offense came alive.

Aaron Nola started and survived a misplayed 3B by Mookie in T1.

Ranger Suarez gave up a 1st pitch HR then shut down LA for 5 innings for the W. Schwarber had 2 HRs, JT had 1. Turner 3H, Harper & Bohm 2.

Phils lose to LA, 5-3. Too many BB by pitchers. Not enough H by offense. Phils got 3 off Ohtani in 2nd, then shut down.

Cristopher Sanchez was great until 6th. David Robertson put first two on in 7th. Strahm got Ohtani and Betts, but gave up 3R HR to Teoscar.

Bader hamstring is disaster for Phils.

Cleveland Guardians are a special team. They have as impotent an offense as has played in postseason. Lost game 1 to Detroit because of two fielding mistakes. Today, CLE had 2 hits going into B8 in a 1-1 elimination game. They got 2 HRs to take a 6-1 lead. DET loaded bases in T9, but got 0 runs.

Cleveland Guardians came from 15.5 games behind to win AL Central. They finished with a record of 88-74, but somehow managed to give up 6 more runs than they scored.

Has any team ever won a division before with a negative run differential?

No team has come back from a bigger deficit, so why not?
September 29, 2025 at 5:11 AM
When the season began, the NL East was expected to be the toughest division in baseball, w/ ATL, NYM and PHL all looking like powerhouses.

ATL was never competitive. Mets staged an epic collapse. Only the Phils made it to the postseason, as #2 seed.

NL Central sent MIL, CHI, CIN to the playoffs.
September 29, 2025 at 4:31 AM
Phils walk off MIN in 10, 2-1. Cris Sanchez was brilliant for 5.2, starting with 21 consecutive strikes. Lou Trivino gave up the run, but bullpen shut down Twins. Kepler tied it w/ HR, Casty won it w/ SF.

Phils improved win total for 5th straight year. They face winner of LAD vs CIN in NLDS.
September 29, 2025 at 12:29 AM
Phils lose to MIN, 5-0, ending their bid for the #1 seed in NL.

Former Phil Mick Abel — traded for Jhoan Duran — was brilliant. He got a ton of help from the HP umpire, who was awful, entirely to the benefit of Twins.

Ranger Suarez left T5 after getting hit in the thigh by a liner.
September 28, 2025 at 12:49 AM
Phils top Twins, 3-1. Aaron Nola had a magnificent start. He was perfect into T6, then gave up a solo HR. He finished 8 innings w/ 2 H 1 R 9 K, by far his best start of the season.

Phils scored on Bohm SF, Sosa HR, Marsh 2B.

MIL lost, so Phils still have a narrow path to #1 seed. Must sweep.
September 27, 2025 at 3:37 AM
Phils top MIA, 1-0. Buehler went 5, Walker 2, Strahm 1. Robertson got SV (2) after 1 hour rain delay (B8). (Duran had warmed up before delay.)

Only run scored in 1st on 1Bs by Bader and Harper and GO by Bohm. Pitchers made it hold up.

Phils’ 3rd 1-0 win. Buehler 3-0 as Phil. 2nd win with Tai.
September 26, 2025 at 1:53 AM
Phils crush MIA, 11-1. Jesus Luzardo was magnificent for 7, w/ 0 ER. Set personal bests for IP, W, K in a season. Huge contribution.

Phils 1/7 w/ RISP, but hit team record 8 HR. Edmundo Sosa came back from IL w/ 3 HRs, 5 RBI. Schwarber had 2 HR. Bohm; Kemp, Stott had HRs.

Fielding sucked again.
September 25, 2025 at 1:44 AM
Phils lose to MIA, 6-5 in 11. They jumped to a 3-0 lead on HRs by Schwarber and Kemp. Cristopher Sanchez was brilliant for 7. Bullpen failed, though poor fielding was a factor. Robertson gave up 2 in T8. Duran blew save on a T9 HR. Kerkering gave up 2 in 10, but Phils tied, before losing in 11.
September 24, 2025 at 3:34 AM
Phils get crushed by AZ, 9-2. Ranger Suarez did not have it, surrendering 6 ER across 1st and 2nd innings. Terrible fielding contributed to the early deficit.

Phils had 11 hits - Alec Bohm went 4 for 4 - but did not string them together.

MIL lost, but Phils did not gain ground.

6 game to go.
September 21, 2025 at 11:08 PM
Phil lose to AZ, 4-3. Nola was better but ran out of gas in B6. Banks might have stopped rally, but allowed the winning run.

Phils had Gallen on the ropes early and then stopped hitting. DBack defense saved a couple runs: Phils D was not good enough to win.

MIL is likely #1 seed w/ 7 gms to go.

Moonalice dedicated tonight’s show at the Hog Farm to Doug Clifton and Kathy Katz. We played Bird Song for them, and then the encore: Hallelujah.

Fare thee well, Doug and Kathy. We love you!
September 20, 2025 at 7:07 AM
Phils top AZ, 8-2, behind the Walker/Buehler twosome of Taijuan Walker and Walker Buehler. Tai gave up 2R in B1, and Buehler allowed bases loaded B8 w/ 2 out, but Banks shut the door.

Bader 3H 1 HR 1RBI
Harper 2H
Marsh 2H 3R 1BB
Castellanos 2H 1HR 3RBI

MIL lost, so Phils are 2 back + tiebreak (3)
September 20, 2025 at 6:41 AM
The Moonalice tribe is reeling from the news that our dear friends Doug Clifton and Kathy Katz were killed in a vehicular accident. We have known Doug since the band’s early days. A retired fire fighter, he was the kindest, most generous fan imaginable. We are shattered.

RIP, Doug and Kathy.

Phils lose to LA, 5-0. Phils only managed 3 hits off Snell — who was lights out for 7 — and 2 relievers. Jesus Luzardo pitched well enough to win many games, but not this one. He lost command a couple times and that cost him.

Phils lost a game to MIL in race for #1 seed. Now 2 1/2 back. AZ next.
September 18, 2025 at 5:26 AM
Phils beat Dodgers again, 9-6. Shohei Ohtani no hit Phils for 5 — leading 4-0 — so Phils scored 6 off bullpen in 6th. Key blow was 3R HR by Brandon Marsh off a LHP.

Ohtani HR and Call SF tied it at 6 after 8. Rafael Marchan 3R HR in 9th was difference.

Dodger bullpen is fried.

Wow. Robert Redford has died. People of a certain age fell for him in Butch Cassidy and The Sting … and that was just the beginning. This man was a towering figure behind the scene, as well, as the creator of the Sundance Film Festival.

RIP to a true icon.

Phils walked off Dodgers 6-5 in 10. Phils win the NL East. JT Realmuto’s SF scored ghost runner Bader.

LA used an opener, who gave up an HR and BB to the LHBs he was in there to stop.

Sheehan came and held PHL hitless into T7. Bullpen failed. Lead changed 2x, LA tied w/ 2 out in 9th v Duran.
September 16, 2025 at 6:05 AM
Phils lose to KC, 10-3. Led 2-0, but Aaron Nola unraveled in 6th, due in part to two misplays by Nick Castellanos in RF. Nola gave up 6, Mayza and Lazar 2 each.

Sal Perez had 5 RBI, Vinnie Pasquantino had 3 hits.

Phils could have clinched with a win. Now have to wait for outcome of NY-TEX game.
