a huge difference is that mizuki is more self-aware though LOL. also the joke of 'becoming potatoes' and how the in-universe play, potato ghost, featuring zombies rising from the ground like harvested potatoes... secret distance also establishes mizuki's ghost motif...

his first focus also parallels secret distance so much... rui's fears and hesitation are founded on finally having found people he feels like he belongs with and are too precious to lose, and then there's this a moment where he realizes that he's been subconsciously feeling this way...

tiering for the event was also uniquely painful bc i kept noticing that so many users who used the card as their leader went out of their way to switch to the untrained version despite upgrading it. just for the meme. it's so diabolical

also i feel you on the reception to mizu5 thing... out of all things about proseka to break containment this was the least appropriate one and i hate that so many people got into it bc they kept seeing memes being made out of mizuki's very palpable agonies...

what mizuki has always wanted more than anything is to be one of the girls! each and every one of her events is about how much she loves niigo and girls in general! there are a lot of thematic parallels between mizuki and rui and most of them are about their love for their unit...

YEA i love her dynamic with rui, but people who downplay her feelings for niigo for it don't understand anything... the entire point is that their relationship is situational; they shared their solitude with each other, but neither could provide the other with what they wanted the most.

there's criticism of niigo that frames itself as just "wanting the girls to have equal development", but it carries this undercurrent that mizuki and mafuyu don't deserve to be prioritized by their friends and take up too much spach which is awful to say about the most vulnerable girls in the cast.

i hate it just as much when people reduce her to a "cheerleader" role, bc how is reducing the trans girl in the group to a matchmaker not just. blatant misogyny. also agree on mafuyu getting similar treatment in different contexts...

YEP. it also feels like some people don't think she's "interesting enough" but. skill issue. she literally is! you're just biased and not paying attention! it's also so gross when mizuki's entire arc is about how much she's in love with all of niigo and wants to belong with without any asterisks!

also there's a separate conversation to be had about how some people are into poly dynamics for niigo but exclude mizuki... maybe i'm too sensitive but it always makes me super uncomfortable when people are very into kanamafuena and talk about them as if mizuki doesn't exist

it's very baffling when not long ago we got wl2 which was about how they will always find each other in every universe bc of how much they love and need each other to keep going... the kind of yearning narrative that feels like it's lifted straight out of a fanfic...

like so many units are clearly poly coded (at least i can say for sure that niigo and wxs are bc i follow them the most closely and i think l/n also is) and it's an intentional choice esp when you compare them to vbs which is more of a "a gay boys duo and a lesbian duo coming together" thing imo

it's important that nene and mizuki are the two people who engage with the phantom as a person. i'm less confident about the other oc or the vs, but an standing for the prima donna of the novel that christine (nene) replaces would be interesting i think.

if this happened the set should be the phantom of the opera and naturally mizuruinene would be the 4*. rui as the opera phantom, nene as christine daaé and mizuki as christine's best friend who is also the one person to find erik's mask in the final portion of the musical.

this and the fact that they still address each other by last name with a "-san" is just part of the plan
