My hobby is taking pictures of fun and weird Japanese mascots (and other costumed characters).
This guy is called Fukumaru. It looks like there is a costume. Maybe you’ll meet him if you run a red light!

Designs are by illustrators or members of the public entering contests. And there are dedicated workshops for the costumes.
