New Jersey’s strong gun laws have helped deliver one of the lowest firearm death rates in the nation. This progress shows what’s possible when leaders listen to advocates and take action to save lives.

This senseless attack reflects a troubling rise in threats and violence against public officials. Public service should not come with a threat to personal safety.

While other Southern states have been passing laws to ban machine gun conversion devices, Georgia lawmakers are busy protecting the gun lobby and threatening cities that try to do their job. This isn’t leadership—it’s cowardice.

By passing SB 204, lawmakers put a bounty on local gun safety efforts, allowing individuals to sue local governments for tens of thousands of dollars for enacting common-sense policies like requiring secure gun storage in vehicles—a measure that helps prevent children from accessing guns.
