We don't need to be quite that dire. There are countries in Europe that have extremely dark stains in their history. Those countries have moved on, regained their honor, become productive and wholesome. The USA can too. Rump does *NOT* represent the majority, he got to power with convincing lies.

If the floor is codified in law as being a significant fraction of the highest ceiling, then sure. Aspire away.

The fundamental problem with trickle down economics is that we forgot to impose an upper limit on the size of the goblet you can have. Once we FORCE overflow to happen, society improves.

Even when not deliberately true, it was still often true. Hence the depressing need to read strategy guides for games before even starting them, so you know which character builds/styles the game REALLY wants you to use versus which ones are elective hard mode...if they work at all

To be fair Biden didn't shout "NO TAKEBACKSIES!" as he was leaving office. Every 5 year old knows that if you don't say no takebacksies, then the other person can just undo what you said.

(I wish our government wasn't functioning at the level of a kindergarten playground, but clearly it is)

New Law? No salary or stock options or non-monetary compensation given by the company to any personnel shall exceed the taxes paid by the company.

Betrayal implies loyalty. Rump has no loyalty to anything or anybody except his own bank account.

Because they're cowards who value their position more than doing what's morally right. It's not mysterious.

The economy is the flow of money between people trading products and services with each other. If we are looking for those responsible for slowing down the economy, then look no further than the top 1% of the population holding half of the money instead of spending it.

Why do you say Switch? That's a handheld. Surely the direct competitor is the Playstation 5?

I'm not a Microsoft fan but we do have to be honest with ourselves here: Windows also has longer support available as a paid product. Win10 Enterprise LTSC support doesn't expire until 2027, and Win10 IOT support doesn't end until 2032 matching the 15 years of support.

We'll always need more energy, the question is, why is New York investing in carbon based energy THAT KILLS US ALL instead of clean solar and wind that doesn't.

There are basically three possible outcomes
1) Universal income. Nobody is working on this.
2) Economy forks into "AI based" and "labor based" currencies, and they aren't interchangeable. Nobody is working on this.
3) Violent overthrow of the existing financial system until 1 or 2 happens.

Considering how much they have fought the release of the Epstein files in order to protect child predators, they should be called the Prepubelican party.
November 26, 2025 at 3:44 PM
Absolutely. If you want your kids to be safe online, then be a parent. Teach your children about both the features and dangers of the internet, and BE THERE when they have questions.

Every other method of "making the internet safe" is somebody selling you a product or taking away a freedom.

Of course. MAGA knows that their real popularity is not very strong, but you can always pay uninvolved people to shill for you.
November 24, 2025 at 3:46 PM
It's not Rump though. It's everybody who enabled him. We could have been done with this nightmare by day 3 if Congress was actually willing to defend the Constitution, but they're not. The real lesson is not why an evil man does evil things, but why everybody else just stands back and lets him.

Unless one of those points is "Russia immediately returns to its own borders and withdraws illegal claims of annexation of Ukrainian territory", it's a non starter.

On the flip side, LLMs are *tremendously* useful to authoritarians who wants to assume power. They rewire people not to analyze, or introspect, but to simply ask for an answer and accept whatever looks close enough to be plausible. A propagandist's wet dream.

In case it needs repeating: This is not how a majority of Americans feel. This man was always a narcissistic criminal and now he's also senile on top of that. The fact that he became president is embarrassing, and the fact that he became president TWICE is a shame we will bear for generations.
November 23, 2025 at 2:33 PM
A whole lot of people are going to be trying out the "But my boss told me to do it, I didn't have a choice!" defense in the coming years.

I'm just laughing at the picture. Zelensky is a great guy, but he's also very short. Trump, on the other hand, is a hulking 6 foot monstrosity. And yet look at their hands... :D

"We demand this case be closed immediately, you need to agree to the robber's terms"
"But I had a lot of nice things! I want my property back!"
"Too bad, you should have thought about the needs of local robbers before deciding to have nice things."
November 20, 2025 at 8:16 PM
It is. There is literally a law that says the executive branch MUST spend money according to the programs and priorities as outlined in the budget passed by Congress.

The problem is, Congress is refusing to hold Rump accountable for his illegal actions.
