Predictability is nice, but Hassett is also predictably wrong. Not as bad as Warsh, but his track record is pretty terrible.

I agree. And in some walks, like sports, which are more facially meritocratic, having a parent from the industry can teach their kids how to avoid common pitfalls they or their friends encountered or how to get on the right people’s radar.

This is like calling Steph Curry or Sean McVay nepo babies. Sure it’s accurate, but pretty sure they’d be in the big show regardless

It’s the kid from that didn’t get into Harvard, but got into UCLA and still went to med school

They said “post-grad years” which implies that he graduated, which it appears that he did not

Bald and isn’t really charismatic. Which sucks because he’s got a great biography and has been terrific on the war crimes stuff

SportSky is pretty good. Definitely had the juice during the World Series and college football. NBA is a bit more hit and miss and NFL isn’t there yet

I suspect for CFB this may be due to the models having all the games fed in. So a game where Purdue or UMass blows a big lead is treated the same as Penn State or Bama blowing one, so the models may be skewed at the extremes. But the gap between the top and the bottom in the NFL is much smaller

Thank you. I was going to say this. And this was a 6.2% chance of winning, which means it happens once every 16.1 games

Widening the hash marks is too much of an advantage in regular play. They need to narrow the uprights.

Tbh, I didn’t think Chia Pets were a thing any more. I’m glad to see that we’re continuing the traditional uses of chia seeds instead of just eating them

The problem is that there are so many counterfeits that stolen artwork loses 90% of its resale value without a certificate of authenticity and clean provenance. So you’d need to find an amoral billionaire who values art for the intrinsic value of art, which is a much smaller market

Seems like it’s a bit challenging to pretend to be someone’s mom. I don’t know if Billy Ray was in the room or at the hospital when Miley was born, but still pretty easy to prove for a non-adoptive child

I’m pretty sure any decently sized company would do the same. I’d bet Exxon Mobil would also fire you if you called a customer the n-word. Like you’d be lucky to get a flight home if you called the Angolan oil minister the n-word

What about a largely true, but embellished story by a friend?

This is a bit like the Disney news. Where the story really was that it was a back door way for Disney to embed their brand safety people and rules into ChatGPT
