Now that I think about it, both these incidents happened along the same stretch of road.

The city was busiest between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. During that period, there was a fire that injured multiple people in northeast Baltimore and a shooting in an industrial part of south Baltimore.

Even outside of social media, I am just not interested in knowing everybody. I come from a family of extreme extroverts who can be a bit traumatizing. Are you the life of the party? Do you need the attention of the room? Well, then I probably don't like you. Or I at least don't want to know you.

On the flip side, though, nothing says more clearly that someone never really loved you than when they prioritize their feelings over you. And refuse to let you explain/clarify/apologize. And give you the silent treatment. And demonize you. And expect you to pine over them after all that....

The thing is, when you love someone, you care about how you make them feel. Nothing would be more emotionally destructive than to believe you did something to push someone you loved to that edge, even if they are solely responsible for taking a suspicious-looking nugget of info and running with it.

I ended up crawling over a concrete divider in the rain and letting a truck driver lower me down onto the highway with my equipment. Then, he gave me some pictures of the damage inside the tunnel.
