EYFS are doing amazing with their phonics learning. They have been enjoying using conkers with letters on and sounding them out to make words. Well done superstars!

Year 4 have been learning about the digestive system. The children enjoyed taking part in an experiment to help understand the different stages.

It was so lovely to welcome so many family members from EYFS and Year 1 to our early reading meeting and phonics session. We talked about the importance of sharing books at home and the children loved showing off their reading and phonics activities. 😊

Year 2 have started reading ‘The Owl who was Afraid of the Dark’ by Jill Tomlinson. We listened to the description and then visualised Plop. Then we shared our illustrations in our class journal.

What a way to finish the year! Today, KS2 were treated to an amazing live science show with food science expert and TV presenter Stefan Gates. Packed with explosive experiments and fascinating facts, Stefan’s ‘Rude Science’ show had the whole hall buzzing with excitement!💥 🧪 🤩

Today we said an emotional goodbye to our fabulous Year 6s. It has been a busy week with their leavers party and assembly and our final farewell today.
What an amazing bunch of children who have worked so hard and achieved so much! We are proud of each and every one of you! Well Done and Good Luck!

Me&Dee joined us for our special assembly today. They were very impressed with the amount of money we raised for the charity so they came to say thank you. They also gave us a certificate and ‘A Gift of Hope’ in the form of an elephant! Thank you to everyone for your support 😊

Well done to this superstar for winning the Dino - Treks competition where children from local primary schools were asked to sketch dinosaurs travelling actively. This design was chosen to be put into local parks in the county to form a Dino T-rek trail.

We have had the best time at our colour run today. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and it was just lovely to see this. An added bonus was that 2 teachers had gunge tipped over them at the end of the colour run. It was an exciting assembly to see who was chosen.

Massive congratulations to the Year 4/5 football team who won the Rose Plate Competition yesterday afternoon! Everyone who played for the team across the year made fantastic contributions from the group stages all the way up to the final! Well done all.⚽️🏆

Thank you so much to everyone who was able to support our Sports Day today. It was great to see the children enjoy the different events and we were impressed with the amount of effort they put into everything they did. It was lovely to see so many of you who were able to join us.

Well done to our Year 5/6 Netball team, who participated in the Bee Netball competition yesterday afternoon. They represented Moira excellently by showing fantastic teamwork and determination. 🏐

Year 5 have had a great time in DT, designing and making their own pasta sauce. They have evaluated other products, practiced knife skills finally used their preparation skills to complete the Bolognaise sauce. With their own marketing on the side, jars of sauce made it home.

What an adventure! Year 1 have created some amazing writing after discovering a DINOSAUR EGG!!! They began by creating and displaying WANTED posters and searching for clues.
They wrote instructions for how to catch a dinosaur, followed the instructions and set a trap. It worked!

Well done to our year 5/6 cricketers who attended the Mixed Dynamos Cricket at Ashby yesterday. The children had a great time and won the ‘Plate’ competition on the day.

In art, year 1 are learning about primary and secondary colours. The children enjoyed learning how to mix the secondary colours. Their challenge was to paint the flowers using only the secondary colours they had mixed!

Today marks the start of SATS for our fabulous Year 6s. We want to wish you all the best of luck. They have been working so hard and have shown resilience, effort, progress, and attitude in the run-up. We know you will be amazing!

Mrs Santy loves spending time with the children who have earned the weekly certificate. It is fantastic to hear how much they enjoy school and what school is like for them both in and out of the classroom. It is also great to share a treat together!

Today we have celebrated the 80th anniversary of VE Day by wearing red, white and blue. We have learnt all about the history of VE Day, what it is about and why we remember. We shared an assembly and picnic lunch, as well as holding a minutes silence to remember.

What a fantastic evening we had with our Easter Chocolate Bingo. Thank you to everyone who supported by donating chocolate or coming along to join the fun! It’s been great to see you all!

In total, we have raised £500 towards our PTFA fund to help enrich the children’s time at Moira. 🤩

Spring has sprung in Yr 2 and we are on the hunt for a few items to develop our outdoor area.
If anyone is able to help our cause, we are in search of donations of seeds, plants, compost, wood for our raised beds and any other outdoor equipment. Thank you!
