Sadly, just like that famous AI artist "Christina Aquafina" once sang, that genie is out of the bottle.

These are out cats, Beef & his brother Cheese, with their adoptive grandma in the back, David Bowie. Not pictured: my nephew's cat Onion.

Soup is still an amazing name

For sure. Playing a AAA game can destroy the battery in an hour. I mostly play indies and use desktop mode, so I haven't had major issues. Handy to pick up a beefy USB power brick tho

If we're talking about old books that are amazing AP English reads, I nominate Frankenstein. It's more internally consistent, less dead weight, contains better moral and existential commentary, and as a bonus, does NOT explain how to beat your slaves. That alone gives it at least one up on the bible

If you have some extra cash and don't mind opening it up, replacing the SSD is extremely easy (less so if you've already been using it for a bit). A 1TB storage upgrade is possible!

I understand generative AI, the danger it poses to the environment, the unethical way it was trained, that corporations are using it to eliminate creative jobs, the house of cards supporting these companies, and how my taxes will be used to prop them up when they fail. That's why I'm against it.

I love playing PSP games on mine

I like dogs, but I don't want one. I find them sloppy, clingy, and spastic. Even "good dogs" (who have been well taken care of, trained, and maintained) wear on me.

But to a one they are dedicated, lovable, goofy, and delightful, and I will pet them given the chance.

Changed you...into ham?
And now you are literally a ham guy?

Congratulations and/or condolences

I loved my Aqua Blue 3DS! Got it used and found that it was a launch day purchase - I registered for Ambassador status with all the free games. Ended up selling it to fund the XL when it came out, and all those Ambassador games migrated with me, but I miss that original design. Fantastic console.

The Steam Deck is lovely. Much less sleek than the Switch but it can play a massive library of games and, if you feel like spending a little time setting up emulators, many other massive libraries of games.

Solid ultraportable PC & media device.

Seriously. When the airlines start acting professionally, maybe I'll consider dressing up a bit

The ROMs that the manufacturer "accidentally" leaves on the card are hit or miss - many are corrupted, locked to a foreign language, or just plain bad/buggy.

If you can find a ROM archive online, you're supposed to only download games you actually own. You know, for archival purposes.

Yeah the Brick is a lovely piece of kit. I'm trying to talk myself into the Hammer edition with its sleek metal shell, but the original is so well built as it is I can't justify it

We lost our cat Murder at a tragically brief 5.5 years to lymphoma. Losing her profoundly changed us.

I don't know who said that grief is love with nowhere to go, but it's true. Both burn the same way.

The single downside, and I'm sorry you (we all) have to go through this. All the time in the world wouldn't be enough

That woman is a powerhouse on every level

Those are always "here's everything wrong and stupid with this movie and why it sucks," and my response is "absolutely yes, and also you are wrong."

The dumbness is a big part of the appeal - just let me turn off my brain and watch a strong woman righteously kick butt.

Nearly all the Expendables stars are past their prime, but that's what movie magic is for. I'd love to see Cynthia back in action in that series, which also counts as a guilty pleasure.

Could be as simple as re-seating the screen's ribbon cable or replacing the screen itself, or as annoying as a bad motherboard no longer capable of driving the screen properly.

If the storage still works, everything else can be replaced.
