Timeline cleanse! The white-tailed Tropicbirds have arrived from their pelagic wandering to nest in the cliffs of South Caicos arriving within a the first two weeks of Feb every year. They came today! One year I was lucky enough to capture their arrival.

The Caicos Bank, shallow and enclosed on three sides by the Turks and Caicos Is. is sometimes milk jade, sometime pink, sometimes a sandy colour or aqua, but always stunning.

Fisher coming at sundown in South. South Caicos is the Fishing capital of the Turks and Caicos Is. Conch, lobster, snapper and grouper are all caught here in season and sold from the dock, and from the fish packing plants near the wharf.

Sold!! I never tire of gazing at and painting this beautiful island of South Caicos. The colour of the water on the Caicos Bank has to be seen to be believed. Milk jade might be the closest. 24”x24”

Donkeys are a big part of life in South Caicos. They used to work in the salt industry, hauling loads of salt to the harbour on little carts. In the 60’s when the salt industry closed, they were set free and have become feral. Always love to see them! Something comforting about donkeys.

A wonderful thing to do late May in South Caicos is attend the South Caicos Regatta. It’s been going since 1967 when Queen Elizabeth II visited. A Maypole dance has become part of the festivities. (Sound up)

My aim with this commission was to capture that feeling underwater where there is no one focal point, you just keep looking from wonder to wonder, and then you realize you are under observation too! #southcaicos #turksandcaicos
